What should I do if the results directory fills up with empty directories?
Just wait.....
The “non-archived” data is specifically deleted for each result that meets a delete criteria (manual or automatic). A folder can contain any number of results from many tasks, some of which are “non-archived” and others “archived” (which should not be deleted yet). To determine whether a folder is empty and can be deleted, the software would have to check whether the folder is empty every time a file is deleted which is relatively resource-intensive when dealing with millions of files. That is why we its not done.
Folders are deleted when the time comes to delete “archived” results or when the hard drive is nearly full.
If you need to remove empty directories immediately, for example before transferring the results to another computer, you can run the following PowerShell script:
Get-ChildItem -Recurse -Directory | Where-Object { $_.GetFileSystemInfos().Count -eq 0 } | Remove-Item
